In 1930's, QiFang He was a well known poet and writer in China, due to his famous masterpieces of "The Prophecy" and "The Picturesque Dream Album", collections of poems and essays. After he arrived in Yan An, particularly after Yan An's "Arts and Literature Reform" propaganda, he produced few excellent works. The style of his literature works in his later life was mostly spontaneous. He lost his own unique artistic characters and styles he had in his early years. His phenomenon was later summarized by others as "Leap forward in Thinking, Leap backward in Creativity", it is also called "The Phenomenon of QiFang He"."The Phenomenon of QiFang He" is a rather complex literary history phenomenon, saturated with rich and magnificent inner value and with rather representative meaning and artistic research value. This phenomenon retains high artistic research value. Even today, it still has received great attention from researchers. This paper consists of three main chapters: the introduction, three main sections, and the conclusion. It starts from 1938 when QiFang arrived in Yan An. It first classified QiFang's collections of poems and essays written between 1931 and 1949 into two-phase works. It illustrates, re-evaluates and analyzes QiFang's literature works during those two-phase periods, along with QiFang's personal and literary journey. This gives "The Phenomenon of QiFang He" a new illustration and evaluation. It also gives a realistic analysis to QiFang's two-phase works' philosophy and artistry complexity. Based on past researches, this paper gives a new probe into the cause of QiFang's literary relapse in his later year's works, and reveals its historic lessons from "The Phenomenon of QiFang He".
