Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen were two important poets in the early period of Tang Dynasty, they played pivotal role in the progress of definite form of regulated poetry. In this study, I analyzed artistic characteristics in their aulic poems, relegated poems and landscape poems named Shen-Song style via the study of background of aulic life in the early period of Tang Dynasty according to the related theory of literature and art. They were demonstrated by the following three chapters:Chapter1: Introduction of biography of the authors in the social background of flourishing aulic life in the early period of Tang Dynasty, and necessary elaboration of several vital historic subjects about them to uncover the immanent causes of the important contribution to the final definite form of regulated poetry by Shen-Song.Chapter2: Discussion of artistic characteristics in their aulic poems, relegated poems and landscape poems:Aulic poems were the origin of their poetry creation. They manifest themselves in typical features: strict rules and forms, skillful conception and complete integration of emotion and scenery. Their unique styles was formed in the long-time poem-contests occurred in imperial palaces and banquets, and objectively became the typical specimens of definite form of regulated poetry.Relegated poems were the nucleus of their poetry creation. They manifest themselves in typical features: full-bodied sentiment, exquisite inward world, tragic character and fresh expression. They got on towards the characteristic in the forthcoming creation climax of regulated poetry of Tang Dynasty.Landscape poems were the climax of their creation. They succeeded to the characteristic of some previous landscape poets such as Xie Lingyun and Xie Tiao, and enlightened the creation of later Wang-Meng genre. On a basis of transitional aspects embodied in their landscape poems, they pioneered creation of confines, content and song craft of landscape poems.Chapter3:Summary of historical contribution to the thriving poetry-creation in Tang Dynasty by Shen-Song from the view of final definite form of regulated poetry, diversity of subject matter and alteration of aesthetic standard in order to restore their proper status influence in the literature of Tang Dynasty.
