Artistry Of The Novels In The Cyberspace

With the development of the Internet,cyberliterature has gradually become a colorful scene in the domain of culture.The rise of cyberliterature carves out a new space for the development of modern literature,and at the same time,it challenges traditional literature from writing to diffusion.Cybernovels are undoubtedly the most influential and socially concerned in cyberliterature because they are not only a fantastic flower in the garden of cyberliterature,but also an important breakthrough to analyzing and interpreting cyberculture.In order to construct and develop literary theories and explain reasonably current cultural phenomena,it is extremely necessary for us to do some theoretical research on cyberliterature.This thesis,mainly based on original Chinese cybernovels,elucidates and comments on the development,writing psychology, textual features,writing contents,and deficiencies of cybernovels,and also discusses the influence of medium change of the computer age on writing of novels.The whole thesis falls into three parts:The first part,"free volitation in the cyberspace——an outline of cybernovels", mainly analyzes the feature of free writing of cybernovels after surveying the development and chief storage space of cybernovels.Freedom is the soul of cyberliterature.Freedom,equality,and open internet provide an opportunity for cyberliterature of being free in creation,publication,and expression,and this freedom is just the most treasured spirit of literature.The second part,"technical skeleton and literary charm-the writing features of cybernovels",mainly analyzes current cybernovels based on the technological features of Internet media.In terms of the textual form,hypertext novels and hypermedia novels can embody fully the features of the Internet with the incomparable advantages in comparison with papery novels.In terms of the writing of novels,the Internet offers a technological platform for the interaction between writers and readers.The three interactive forms that center on "writers","writing",and "criticism" make writing an activity that both writers and readers accomplish jointly.Thus,literature realizes its democracy and equality in the real sense.In terms of narrative language,the change of carrier makes cybernovels have features quite different from papery novels':calmness, geniality,and equality in writing angels of view;worldliness,straightforwardness,and truthfulness in language style;casualness,simplicity,and uniqueness in way of expression;and richness,freshness,and originality in original vocabulary.In virtue of digitalized technology,cybernovels cater to modern people's urgency of searching for soul restingplace by making people find a broad way to recreation and carnival.The third part,"noisy carnival——the content features of cybernovels",mainly discusses the content characteristics of current cybernovels in such four aspects as the virtual experience of love-and-hate life,nude portraiture of modern urban desire, anatomy and parody to tradition,and fantasy feast of virtual space-time.We believe that,in spite of some deficiencies,cyberliterature will surely have a beautiful future in the face of the already-arrived or forthcoming digital age.
