Since the last decade of the 20th century, Cyberspace, which mainly consisted of the personal computer and Internet has been seen a dramatic growth, and become a major part of today’s life. As Cyberspace keep expending now, new forms and dimensions of it created, for instance, the mobile ends as the "smartphone" is one of the significant new developments. Like the other information media before it, Cyberspace is also a kind of "information" itself, which could cause great impact on the society in all aspects, the value system is one of the targeting aspect. Media ecologists as Neil Postman have already accomplished some classic analysis on the influence (including the changes of the value system) by the modern media such as the telegram and television, and expose the darkside behind the charming face of the new media. Within this essay, we will inherit this tradition of introspection, and try to analyze the changes of value caused by Cyberspace, especially those negative changes which are constantly ignored by the public, since the positive effects of Cyberspace are all too well known now, in this tech-oriented age.We will first define the two major domains of our analysis:Cyberspace, and Value system. Also would be done is highlighting the importance of the analysis on the relationship between the two domains. Then we will try to draw out the changes to the value system today in great detail, those changes are all observable facts now and keep developing, or deteriorating. The main body of the essay would be divided into three parts as follow:1. The shattered value system caused by the shattered content in Cyberspace.2. The universal devaluation caused by the unprecedented convenience and enormous component of Cyberspace.3. The widespreading arrogance and egotism, and the diminishment of the human relation. Those side-effects are rarely been seen in the analysis of Cyberspace before. Hence this essay have to be rely on personal experience in great extent, combine with applying the theories and knowledge in philosophy, psychology, aesthetics and other areas. The three divisions are internally related to each other, and in the deep heart, they are just different aspects of a same historical course. This course is the expanding of the mass’s rights and interests. Cyberspace is just a new stage of the hundreds-years old democratic course fueled by the technology development. Beside its positive liberating achievement, this democratic course has negative effects as well. Postmodernism is one of the extreme consequences of this overdone liberation movement. And we can find many Postmodernism elements in the analysis of the changes of value caused by Cyberspace in this essay. This remind us in the cheering atmosphere today, we must keep an introspective view of the Cyber-tech development and the future of mankind.
