The teahouse culture, an important component of tea culture, is a burgeoning industry of culture and lie-fallow, and possesses prominently social and mass function and local characteristics. Hunan Province is a region of earlier tea production in China. At prehistorical period, tea and its use were discovered. However, going through vigorous development of tea industry at Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty in China, centuries-old and massive Hunan-tea culture as well as powerful advantage of tea industry did not help to draw attention to the development of teahouse culture in Hunan. Teahouse culture of Hunan, based on and developed from fecund soil of tea culture, was not though much in academe. As a result, any systemic monograph about teahouse culture could not be found at present.Starting from excavating fascination of teahouse culture in Hunan and from promoting benign development of teahouse industry, the first part in this article discusses the formative inevitability of Hunan teahouse industry from the history of tea development in Hunan, the feature of Hu-Hunan culture, the feature of local tea custom and super-frontal economy of lie-fallow and consumption, and also concludes developmental period of Hunan teahouse. In the second part, regional characteristics of Hunan modern teahouse are detailedly analyzed from naming, tea couplet, entertainment and tea food. In order to manifest the cultural meanings of Hunan teahouse, during the developmental process of teahouse culture, which is inherited from Hunan tea culture, we must pay attention to excavate special tea drink, to reasonably introduce teahouse consumption, to give dual attention to mold the attributes of teahouse culture, to standardize the naming of teahouse and to encourage the creation of higher-quality tea couplet. At the same time, in order to attract the sources of buyers and to popularize the fashion of tea drink, the teahouse proprietors must extensively introduce healthy and auxiliary entertainment into teahouse management. Both the centuries-old developmental history of Hunan teahouse and the richly regional culture characteristic have laid the good foundation for the development of Hunan modern teahouse industry. According to the theory of central culture region influencing peripheral cultural belt, this article investigated 60 teahouses 178 managers (including services in the teahouses) and 401 consumers in the Changsha City using the sampling questionnaire survey. After analysis of the data, the results showed that some problems exist in the development of Hunan teahouse industry. For example, the introductory consciousness is insufficient in teahouse management, the specialized quality is deficient in jobholders, the professional cooperation is la(?)king, the structure of civilization is unconspicuous and the knowledge of tea culture is deficient in most consumers. Aiming at the above questions, several suggestions are provided in this article. Firstly, the interior self-innovation and development in the teahouse industry must be strengthened. Secondly, the propagation of Hunan-tea culture must be potentiated through many kinds of formation. Thirdly, the superiority of original tea producing area must be strengthened to form the pattern of "tea merchant (tea garden) +teahouse". Fourthly, the traveling resources of tea culture can be exploited to drive the consumption of regional teahouse.
