History Studying On English Teaching Of Early Society In The Republic Of China

Early Society in the Republic of China, China experienced Xinhai Revolution,Yuanshikai's Emperor,The Second Xinhai Revolution. Old Feudalization was Pulled down, and New Education Reform,New Education System came into being. Which established the status of English Teaching. This dissertation focuses on the English teachers,academic courses,teaching content and methods in both public and Christian universities and secondary schools. Thus reveals its distinctive features.This dissertation is composed of four chapters:Chapter one: briefly introduces the social conditions and historical Conditions. Which contains the social changes and foreign exchanges since Opium War,the naissance and development of Chinese English Teaching before Xinhai Revolution,the conditions and policies for English Teaching of early society in the Republic of China. Thus reaches a basis for the body of the dissertation.The following two parts are the body of the dissertation.Chapter two: introduces and analyses the English teaching of public and Christian secondary schools .First there comes the naissance and development of English teaching, than follows the English teaching of early society in the Republic of China. Compares with the English teaching in the Late Qing Dynasty, English teaching of this period gets widespread popularity,more courses and teachers.Chapter three: introduces and analyses the English teaching of public and Christian universities, analyses the case of public universities, Tsinghua School, as well as the case of Christian universities, ST. John's University. Compares with the former two periods, English teaching of this period gets widespread popularity English teaching stands out in foreign languages teaching, bilingual teaching method is widely used.After the body comes the conclusion, that is chapter four: sums up the functions and impacts of the English teaching in early society in the Republic of China. Which plays an important role in the cultivation of English personnel,Sino-Western academic exchanges and education's modernization.English Teaching of early society in the Republic of China is based on the teaching of the Late Qing Dynasty, and developed in the new historical Conditions. It makes great contribution to our country's English Teaching, as well as current English Teaching Reform.
