Argument On Private Language From Wittgenstein's Perspective Of Mind

There ia a paradox in the private language itself. The private language is a kind of language,so it should be public.But, if we add the word"private"to the word"language",some philosophical problems arise. The problem of the private language should be a problem of Language Philosophy firstly.And we seemingly have the right to discuss it from the perspective of Ostensive Definition.But the problem of the private language actually is a problem of Mind Philosophy.It contains some theories of Mind such as private sensations,Solipsism, experiences,behaviour and so on.As Searle,J.R has said, Mind Philosophy is the foundation of Language Philosophy.In some degeree,if we don't resove the problem of Mind Philosophy about the private language, the problem of the private language will not be resoved effectively. In this thesis, I try to discuss the problem of private language from Wittgenstein's perspective of mind,based on Marie McGinn's,John Cook's,and P.M.S.Hacker's research on the problem.There are four parts in this thesis:First part: what is the private language. Explaining Why Wittgenstein discusses the problem of private language in his philosophy , the history and characteristic of the ideology of private language.Second part: Wittgenstein's first perspective of mind in the sign of the wrong ideology of private sensations.In terms of Wittgenstein's analysis of conception"pain"and Wittgenstein's analysis of inference about private sensations, I conclude that Wittgenstein thinks the ideology of private sensations is wrong. Private sensations don't exist,then private language also doesn't exist naturaly.Third part: Wittgenstein's second perspective of mind in the sign of the relationship between sensations(experiences) and sensation language.In this part,I diacuss the problem of mind such as Solipsism, experiences,behaviour in the Wittgenstein's later philosophy firstly,then I point out his ideology of sensation language. Sensation language isn't a private language which piont to inner sensations of human being,but a civilized expression which replaces primitive-natural-expressive behaviour.Conclusion: Significance of the private language argument from Wittgenstein's perspective of mind. Traditional mode of Ostensive Definition understanding Wittgenstein's private language argument brings him some criticism.For example,some phlosophers think that he is a Behaviourism,and some think Wittgenstein's private language argument is a a vicious circle.But if we discuss his private language argument from the perspective of mind,then the delimits vanish.
