A Combination Of Impressments And Affection

The works of Zhou Sicong are tightly connected with the ideology of times. Meanwhile, they distinguish themselves from other works of the same era by their unique artistic enchantments. As times goes by, her artistic style has experienced such stages as the realistic paint style which is embodied in The Demos and the Premier, the combination of various painting tracts as illustrated The Miners and the emotion-express style as manifested in The Rustle Dropping Leaves etc. The subjects of her works are quite comprehensive, which covered such items as figures, flowers, birds and landscape. Her observation perspectives changed from society to nature, from historic issues to the common real life scenes, from the pursue of sublime idea to the display of the inner emotion. The author here believe that it will stimulate us in water-ink painting by analyzing transformation of her painting style and ascertain her art spirit from the perspective of her own art course.In terms of structure, this paper is composed of three parts: In the first part, it tries to present the comprehensive artistic characters of the language in her work and the inner artistic idea illustrated in her works in different stages by analyzing the age background, artistic thoughts and art works, all the analysis are based on the description of Zhou's art course in different periods. In the second part, it analyzes and dissertates such concrete concepts as the aesthetic ideas, the spirit connotation and the construction of artistic elements which are presented in Zhou's magnum opus, and then finds out her artistic spirit .In the last part, this paper presents the contemporary reflection on Zhou's artistic idea on the basis of analyzing her artistic spirit. In the face of the current artistic thoughts and the status quo of art research, the author here intends to stimulate our inspiration in the development of artistic works and water-ink painting. by presenting and analyzing her artistic ideas like the humanism thoughts and female awareness etc. Last but not least, the original intention of this paper is to inspire a deep reflection on ourselves as well as the essence of artistic works by learning from the great master Zhou Sicong.
