Ge Hong was a distinguished Taoism scholar and thinkers of the East Jin Dynasty in China. Baopuzi was the most important literature in Ge Hong's life. This book not only contains important religion theories, but also refers abundant thoughts about beauty, aesthetic feeling, and aesthetic appreciate. From Wei to Jin Dynasty, it was such an era that aesthetic thought was at the height of power and splendor. The aesthetic theories in Baopuzi, such as literature, art and aesthetic appreciation had reflected the aesthetic thoughts of this time. This thesis tries to grasp and analyze the aesthetic thoughts of Baopuzi, how it inherit the thoughts from predecessors, its affects to aftertime, and the important signification in the trend of culture thoughts in Wei-Jin Dynasty from the angles of both traditional Chinese aesthetic thoughts and Taoism aesthetic theories, based on the investigation of predecessors'and reading of text.Besides the foreword and epilogue, this paper will be consists of four parts. The part of the foreword not only make a conclusion on the aesthetic thoughts of Baopuzi by predecessors, approve the achievement of predecessors, but also will point out the that researches of predecessors still lack of integrated, systemic explain. The writer thinks that it is necessary to grasp the aesthetic thoughts of Baopuzi comprehensively and integratedly from the cultural background in Ge Hong's times. The first chapter will mainly explains the relation among Ge Hong, Baopuzi and the aesthetics ethos in Wei-Jin Dynasty. Consequently, It will get a conclusion that Ge Hong's aesthetic thoughts had a close relationship to his career, times, and culture background consanguineously by reviewing his whole life, thoughts, and the relationship between Xuan or Taoism's thoughts in Baopuzi and the aesthetics ethos in Wei-Jin Dynasty. In the second chapter, it will discuss the personality aesthetic thoughts in Baopuzi. It mainly explain aspiring the life attitude, aesthetic theories of emptiness and stillness of Ge Hong, then we can see that personality aesthetic thoughts of Ge Hong not only were the syncretism of the personality aesthetic thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism, but also is the sublimation of them. The third chapter of this paper is to discuss Ge Hong's views on the objectivity of beauty, art beauty, and nature beauty, and mainly explain the emphasis on nature beauty, especially the the pursue of art beauty, form beauty, and the combination of form beauty and content beauty of Ge Hong, then we can see that the Ge Hong aesthetic thoughts is inherit, development, and exceed of Confucianism and Taoism aesthetic thoughts. The fourth chapter of this article discusses the views of aesthetic appreciation in Baopuzi, including distinction of appreciation in literature and art, and the factors, and the development view that affirm the modern thoughts exceed ancient, these progressive points may provide the valuable resource of thoughts for prospective studying in aesthetics domain.In the epilogue, the article will make a conclusion on the values and the modern signification of the aesthetic thoughts in Baopuzi, reveal the profound meanings in aesthetics, and point out the advantages of the simplicity materialistic views in Ge Hong's thoughts and these advantages will become a favorable factor of modern aesthetics studying and the cultures civilization construction. At the same time,it also point out the shortcoming of Ge Hong's thoughts lead by religion idealist, and claim that we should inherit critically the Ge Hong's aesthetic thoughts. |
