Research On The Self-Injurious Behavior Of Autistic Children: Functional Behavioral Assessment And Intervention

Self-injurious behavior is defined as a volitional act to harm one's body without any intention to die as a result of the behavior. In the domain of special education, persons with autism and mental retardation appear self-injurious behavior. Self-injurious behavior not only brings direct damage to the body,brings his(her) family and the society big psychological pressure and economic burden ,also makes the relative educational intervenor puzzled.In order to discuss the cause of it, analysis the maintain circumstance stimulator, and find out effective intervene approach, This text base on the method of functional behavioral assessment(FBA) to intervene self-injurious behaviors of two children with autism under school scene. And also the author makes a survey and interview of 15 children with autism to realize the occurrence, development and intervention status in our country.After evaluating the self-injurious behaviors of two children with the method of FBA, we discover that: self-injurious behaviors of the two children have a close functional relationship with circumstance stimulator. Self-injurious behavior is aroused and maintained by circumstance stimulator specifically.Through intervening the self-injurious behaviors of two children with the method of control antecedent circumstance etc, we can see: the intervention have a marked effect on the self-injurious behavior.From the survey we can find that: (a) Most children injury themselves to access tangibles or escape something. (b)The age difference of functions is not obvious. (c) The language conditions of these children are bad.
