In this thesis, the author applies psychology and emotional factors in the field of Second Language Acquisition theory, associating with the characteristic of emotional input in translation, to analyze their functions and effects on the translation process from the point of view of the translator's emotion. Currently,"studies of various schools on the process of translation are only logical inferences, rather than the results summarized in experiments"(Jiang Suhua, 1998). A complete translation process is continuous and dynamic with organic links, not isolated or static. There can be no clear distinction signs in all stages. And the stages are impossible to be categorically separated. However, the traditional dichotomy of the two stages, so-called understanding and representation, tends to be used. The stage before the language output in the trichotomy is considered to be in the scope of understanding. Also some Chinese scholars adopt trichotomy, that is, selecting, understanding and representing. This paper employs the distribution method of trichotomy. But it is still necessary to stress that all stages are inextricably linked, particularly the stages of understanding and representing, which run through the entire translation process from beginning to end.Emotional factor belongs to the category of psychology, but it has been widely extended to such disciplines as linguistics, pedagogy, sociology, aesthetics, philosophy and so on and has become an integrated concept. In the early 1980s, the concept of emotional factor was introduced into the research area of second language acquisition and emotional factors were defined and classified. In addition, the impacts of emotional factors on learner-centered second language acquisition were discussed further. Related theories also have a great impact on other disciplines. For example, Jane Arnold believes that in the process of learners'cognizing and reacting, there is a process to evaluate things, that is, stimulus evaluation process. The research results show that the biological evaluation system of the learners'controls stimulus evaluation and learning motivation in the second language learning, positive motivation and emotion promotes second language learning. On the contrary, they will hinder second language learning. In the field of psychology, Maslow's hierarchy of needs holds that motivation is the internal reason driving people to be engaged in various activities. In learning a second language, if the learner has a strong motivation to learn, and expects to meet the internal needs through learning languages, then he definitely is a good language learner. The American humanism psychologist Rogers thinks that the cognitive activities are always accompanied by a certain emotional factors. When the emotional factors are depressed or even denied, the potential self-development can not be developed and realized. Only the real attitude of personal respect and understanding of the inner world of learner's attitude can stimulate the learning enthusiasm of the learners, and enhance their self-confidence. These theories can be applied in translation studies, as translation is an interlingual activity. This thesis utilizes the classification methods in Second Language Acquisition and classifies the emotional factors into two major categories, one category is the individual factor of the translator including attitude, motivation, etc.; the other is emotional factor between the translator and the author or the reader, including the attitude, cross-cultural awareness and so on. These emotional factors integrate throughout the entire process of translation in different forms. This thesis, combining with the characteristics of the translation, puts an emphasis on motivation and empathy in emotional factors, as well as the impact of imagination and inspiration which are closely related to emotion in the translation process.Traditional translation studies emphasize the text contrast and the setting and compliance of translation standards, whose vision is relatively narrow. With the rise of the culture school, researchers'eyes are no longer as limited as before; the relations between the text production and the outside world are paid more and more attention to. This thesis studies effects of emotional factors on translation with a total of four chapters in addition to an introduction and a conclusion. The introduction is about the main research purpose and significance, as well as current situation of research about emotion and translation at home and abroad. Chapter one expounds the theoretical basis of emotional factors. Chapter two, chapter three and chapter four are the core of this thesis, focusing on the translator's motivation factor, empathic factor as well as the impact of imagination and inspiration which are closely related to emotion in text selection, understanding and representation. The last part of this thesis is the conclusion.As a branch of the study of translator's subjectivity, the study on the impact of emotional factors in translation in essence is the deepening study of translator's subjectivity, and its focus is not on the translation methods or translation skills used by the translator in the translation process, but on the basic emotional factors of the translator integrating throughout the entire process of translation in different forms, exerting influence on selecting the text before translation and applying translation methods, all of which play a decisive role in the quality of the translation and can not be neglected.
