The Establishment, Evolution And Regional And Time Distribution Characteristics Of Jian, Song Dynasty's Administrative District

There was a special type of administrative division in Song Dynasty, that is,economic administrative district-----Jian. In accordance with their economic affairs, theadministrative districts can be divided into Muma Jian, Sizhu Jian, Yan Jian, Kuangye Jian, Zhuqian Jian and other categories. In the previous study of this special administrative region, the works which discuss Jian from the perspective of the establishment and evolution of it are few. And these works are mainly concentrated in the study of Jian of Tongxia Zhou (the lowest class in administrative division) class. This thesis, from the perspective of the economic affairs of administrative district, Jian in Song Dynasty, researches and expounds the origin, establishment and evolusion, characteristics of geographical distribution and temporal distribution of Jian in order to ascertain the true situation of this special administrative region in Song Dynasty.This thesis includs preamble, body, appendix and references four parts.In the peamble, the autor firstly recalled the previous scholars research achievement on the Jian of Song Dynasty, including the study of administrative region Jian, Jian with economic services, and the history of Jian's system these three aspects. The the author give a brief summary to the study purpose and significance of this thesis. At last, the author attempts to adopt effective methods used by the previous scholar studied the evolution of administrative districts to complet this thesis.The fist chapter of the text explores and analyses the establishment origin of administrative district Jian in Song Dynasty in the aspects of Zhuqian Jian, Muma Jian, Sizhu Jian, Yan Jian. The second chapter verifies the establishment and evolution of administrative district in four periods in Bei Song Dynasty and Nan Song Dynasty. The third charpter, starting with the geographical distribution characteristics of administrative district Jian in Song Dynasty, expounds the specific reasons for the complementation of these characteristics and features of the times.The appendix collects the rules of administrative district Jian in Song Dynasty and their modern geographical names.
