Immendorff was one of the remarkable representatives of the German New Expressionism, his art has the distinct characteristic of the times and the political tendency."Breaking up"and"confrontation"was the epoch theme after World War II, and so was what Immendorff often thought about and expressed. His representative serial painting works,"German Café", expressed his criticism toward the breaking-up of Germany and the global splitting caused by the Cold War between the two superpowers of U. S. and Soviet Union."Politics"was an important element of his painting art. Young Immendorff had such an idea that Mao Zedong was very revolutionary, and followed him all his life.His ideas and advocacy about art has a good sense of Mao Zedong School, He is exactly an artist of"Mao Zedong School". Many of Immendorff's views came from the artistic view of Mao Zedong Thought,and appeared in his works. Mao Zedong had an unusual influence on Immendorff.This thesis begins with the objective factors of Immendorff facing the cultural scene and the creation of context,and analyze the cultural and times background of forming his New Expressionism and artistic view. The following, paper gets idea from his young age of stray and helpless to discuss how important the "Mao Zedong Thought" is for the formation of his artistic view.Next, the thesis analyses and finds out that Immendorff had countless ties with the artistic view of Mao Zedong Thought,and make a conclusion about Immendorff is a tapical artist of"Mao Zedong School".Finally,it dissects how to absorb,,innovate , digest and draw lessons in the different ideology and cultural system in order to guide us to create artistic works with not only beauty but social value in the mult-culture confronting society.
