The Monographic Study On Guangdong Topic Fiction's Maritime Character In Late Time Of Manchu Dynasty

Because of the long communicational history between China and western nations and the geographical advantages, western civilizations have important influences to Guangdong in late time of Manchu Dynasty. To 19 century, Guangdong area played an important role in many places such as politics, economy, military and culture. At that time, it appeared many novels that attended Guangdong culture, wrote Guangdong theme and represented Guangdong people's living. We call them Guangdong topic fictions. The most prominent character about these novels is describing the actual painting of various cultures and the maritime feature of Guangdong's society living in late time of Manchu Dynasty.Basing of these new phenomena, this paper will study Guangdong people's maritime living appearances, maritime exist philosophy in these novels and these novels' maritime narration subjects.The first part of this paper traces back to the relationship between ancient novels and Guangdong area, arranges the novel works about Guangdong theme that appeared in late time of Manchu Dynasty, and then produces some famous Guangdong novelists and their works.Owing to the first part's arrangement, the paper will research a series of fresh phenomena about Guangdong's society living in late time of Manchu Dynasty and investigate their literary significances. This problem will be divided into two parts. One is the maritime living condition which is showed in Guangdong topic fictions. It includes Guangdong people's maritime living contents and a series of maritime figures' emersion. The other is the maritime living conceptions which are showed in Guangdong topic fictions.From the narration subject angle, the illusive subject and the traveling subject are two forms that reflect maritime characters in Guangdong topic fictions. On the one hand, they represent the staged ending of traditional novel's subject. On the other hand, they also open up the new realm of the maritime subject in novel circles. It will be discussed in the forth part of this paper.These novels' maritime characters have deep significance in Chinese culture history. The fifth part will study the cultural meaning and influence of these novels.
