There are some distinct differences between Tang and song lyrics and Tang and Song poems whatever their origination and development or their form and content. The scholars from the ancient age to the present age have noticed and dissertated largely about the differences. At present, the papers about the style of Tang and Song lyrics have done some research deeply from literary techniques of representation e.g. imago and rhetoric. But there was little papers dissertated from the angle of language performance system and compared form of lyrics with form of poems in the category of language performance system. This paper expresses the particular character of Tang and Song lyrics' form through the analysis of material elements of and from the angle of language performance system.Tang and Song lyrics originated in Tang dynasty, through Five Dynasties periods, thrived in Song dynasty. This made the character of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system presented continually variational diachronic process. So it is a principal issue that how to confirm a period of time to discuss the style of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system. Owing to as arioso songs for Tang and Song lyrics in its origination, the words of song and music is two basic elements. In the development of lyrics' form, combination and separateness of lyric and music made up of two important historical phases, one was vocal phase namely the combination of lyric and music, the other was literature phase namely the separateness of lyric and music. This paper take the vocal phase of Tang and Song lyrics as researching period. The lyrics in vocal phase relative to ones in literature phase were original and natural lyrics which were close to its inward feature. From its functional factor, the lyrics in vocal phase were graceful and restrained lyrics about flower, wine, retreatism of melancholy and gloom.The formation of style of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system should be narrated from its musicality. From its origination, Tang and Song lyrics connected with music tightly. So musicality is always the distinct character which can be distinguished the form of poem and take on no replaceable function in origination and development of form of lyrics. This paper firstly introduces the theory of form of lyric and its basic genre, the theory of form of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system and its style. Then this paper dissertates style of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system from synchronic and diachronic clues. From synchronic angle, the analysis and dissertation about the elements e.g. glossary, syntax, rhetoric, imago reflect the characteristic and color of style of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system. In basis of detailed enumeration, statistics and analysis, this paper gets a conclusion that the appearance of substantive is high frequent and the creative use of empty words relates with musical function and lyrical function largely except its function of syntax. The long and short sentences are not only exterior formal character but also important representation which tones music. In syntax, leading-words sentence and nominal fanning sentence similarly express the features of form of lyrics from music, grammar and lyricism etc. The own rhetoric mode of form of lyrics endows form of lyrics with artistic style which is differ from form of poem from music and lyricism. In imago, there is also high frequent tendency of Tang and Song lyrics: imago of night, feminine imago, imago of spring and autumn and seasonal animals and plants, faraway imago, aqueous imago. The repetition and accumulation of these imagoes engender feminine and graceful character. From diachronic angle, this paper draws the outline of vivid character of style of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system. Comparing form of lyrics and form of poem, Tang and Song lyrics' unique music idiosyncrasy and literature function which is good at describe loving stories endow form of lyrics with more graceful and restrained and lithe character. There are also musical differences between "standard-form" lyrics and "varied-form" lyrics: from its origination, "standard-form" means earliest or most frequently used format which accords with rules and forms of classical lyrics, or lets versification sentences dominates, or basically uses versification sentences; "varied-form" means the format which accords with "standard-form" mostly, but appears the transformations of word count, periods and commas, level and oblique tones, rhyme etc. in the basic of "standard-form". From the angle of emotional color expressed by music, tactful and lingering tune which includes lengthened sound viewed as "standard-form", vehement, generous, desolate, bold and unconstrained tune viewed as "varied-form". Otherwise, the differences between "standard-from" and "varied-form" which appears in expressive content, portraying technique and lingual visage have decided the differences between musical literature and written literature, the differences between feminine voice and masculine voice. Through the induction to the all kinds of ideas above at last, the characters of style of Tang and Song lyrics' language performance system which presents us are concerning lyrical content, feminine thought, overcast scenery, exoteric language and faraway artistic conception.
