Today along with China's opening and reforming policy, Chinese people have realized the importance of learning a foreign language (mainly English) for both the development of our economy and each individual. To meet the needs of the rapid development, the investigation of the theories of language teaching has been made with each passing day, and the reform of the foreign language teaching has taken shape of tide. But there is a strange phenomenon in the field of English language teaching and learning—most people do not learn English efficiently. For instance, many college graduates, after learning English for more than ten years, still cannot speak or write in English fluently. Certainly there are various reasons leading to this problem, but one main reason lies in the fact that there are some problems in the orientation of foreign language teaching in China. Analyzing this problem and trying to find a solution to it will be a great significance for establishing a suitable way of Chinese foreign language teaching.Stephen D Krashen's study in the field of second language acquisition achieved great concern by the linguists. Different linguists have different ideas to his Monitor Model Theory, but it is maybe the most all-sided and acceptable theory nowadays. It has the directory significance in improving the quality of teaching and in conducting the English language teachers and researchers to investigate the English language teaching deeply in China. This thesis will do some systematical discussions and analysis in the main theories which are close related to the language teaching in the field of second language acquisition. And it will also investigate its actual meaning in English language teaching in China from the visual angle of Krashen's second language acquisition theory.
