A Comment On Narrative Techniques Of Prosper Mérimée's Novels And The Relationship With Chinese Literature

This research is undertaken to analyze the narrative techniques of Prosper Mérimée's novels from three aspects:point of view,structure and effect of narration. It uses narratology as the main theory,and try to clarify the reason why Mérimée's novels are distinguished.The three aspects argued are as follows:different points of view in his novels are used to create magic and gothic stories,satisfying reader's curiosity.The double structure is built to multiple narrative levels,and the meta-narrative in his novels is analyzed briefly too.The cold and rational narrative style of his novels is to tell breathtaking stories,while exoticism and painting elements enhance his novels' enchantment.The second half of the dissertation casts light on the relationship between the narration of Mérimée's novels and Chinese literature.It researches the history of the translation and reception of the writer and his novels.The relevant studies on the narration of his novels by other Chinese scholars are collected in this research.At last it sets three writers Xu Xu,Ma Yuan and Zhang Cheng Zhi as examples,to explore the great influence on Chinese moderu writers that the narration of his novels.
