A Preliminary Study Of The Zhou Dynasty Culture In Wanxi Area

The Wanxi area ,situated in the western area of Yangtze river and Huai river valley in Anhui province,is located in the culture between the Plains culture and the southern culture.From the sixties,many tombs of the Spring and Autumn Dynasty have excavated,which have unearthed many burial articles.Within these articles,more are bronze vessels,and the bronzes are special.These's little pottery and porcelain.Up to now,none site of Spring and Autumn Dynasty has excavated.And also,there's little tomb and site of Western Zhou Dynasty has excavated.The Yandun site in lu'an is the first site of Western Zhou Dynasty we have excavated,which had unearthed rich relics.Based on the materials of Yandun site and the tombs of Spring and Autumn Dynasty,with the typological method ,the author analyse the pottery and bronze and sum up the characteristics.Then the author establish the cultural seriation of Zhou Dynasty in Wanxi area.It is an archaeological culture which has several cultural elements,but the element in itself is dominant,melting the Plains and southern culture.Then,combing with ancient literature,the author infers the culture is created by Huaiyi.The author is the first one who analyse both pottery and bronze,proved that the culture in Zhou Dynasty is consecutive.
