Talking About "the Controversy Between Science And Metaphysics" From The Perspectives Of Cultural Philosophy

Modern China had been in crisis and reforming. Culture reform is the ultimate choice in the process of Chinese reform. "The controversy between metaphysics and science" broght the criticism and the reconstruction of the traditional culture to people's eye after the May 4th Movement. In contemporary time , re-examining the Chinese culture has been put on agenda with the deepening of "the reform and opening up" and the emergency of the culture crisis. This paper is to analyse the notes of the conservatives, libertarians and the Maxist in "the controversy between metaphysics and science" from a culture philosophy perspective in order to understand the contemporary crisis in the new age.The main body of this paper includes four parts.The first part of this paper introduces the background of "the controversy between science and metaphysics" both in the side of international and the domestic perspectives. Also the paper tells the historic inevitability of it. At the same time, the paper tells that the development history of modern China decides the occurrence of "the controversy between metaphysics and science" and its significance and position in the Chinese history of idea.The second part is the focus of the paper. In this part, the paper firstly introduces detailedly the process of "the controversy between metaphysics and science". Then to analyse specificly the three schools's ideas and concepts involved in "the controversy between metaphysics and science":namely Liberalism, Conservatism and the Maxism, and focus on their view of culture connotation and moral implication. Also the paper tell that the conservatives want to save traditional culture, the libertarians want to bring in western culture and overthrow the traditional culture, and the Maxismists of China want to bring in another new culture.The third part is the core. In this part, the paper makes a summary of all viewpoints, and makes a historical comment on their advantages and disadvantages. The paper also analyses the background of contemporary crisis, and want to found a helpful way to solve it from "the controversy between metaphysics and science".The forth part make a general summary of the full text, and get a brief conclusion. The paper gets the conclusion that to deal with the modern crisis, we have to get help from "the controversy between metaphysics and science".
