The Study Of Consumption Concept In Zhou Dynasty

Human does not only meet his own material demands during consuming activities, but also have to pay attention to his social attribute of consuming activities, therefore, how to consume is the problem that the whole human world is concerning at every moment. The dissertation aims to study the consumption concept born in Zhou Dynasty, which has far-reaching effects to the whole Chinese history. This dissertation tries to longitudinally analyses the consumption concept in three different stages during Zhou Dynasty and uncover its law of development.The dissertation consists of foreword and main text.The foreword of this dissertation expounds the study significance and the study way on the base of related academic developments.The first part is to summarize and analyze the main characters of consumption concepts in Western Zhou Dynasty ,which is based on the introduction of the main consumption concepts of the humans in Western Zhou Dynasty when they were living in the low productive society ,moreover, it also elaborates the cause of consumption concepts.The Second part firstly explains the human's physical appetites was stimulated because of the development of social productive forces and economy during the Spring and Autumn period, but the limitation of production made social matter that remained could not meet human's material demands and the social contradiction was sharpened because there was no corresponding luxurious consumption that could satisfy the humans' strongly material desire. Secondly, according to the historical materials, the dissertation demonstrates the systematical concept of luxury and thrift that came about in Spring and Autumn period from four aspects ,such as the specifically expression of concept of luxury and thrift, moral evaluation, the cognition of result of luxury and thrift and the opinion of feasibility of luxury and thrift. Meanwhile, this dissertation also explains the ancient people analyzed the concept of luxury and thrift by human nature and brought up the concept of advocating thrift and restraining luxury, which was began in Spring and Autumn period.The third part elabrates the economy further development doesnot only promoted the increase of corresponding social wealth ,but also brought about new crisis for the society during the Warring States period.Besides, it also explains the expression of common people's consumption activities and changes of social conduct in the new economical situation. Finally, the dissertation elaborates the different consumption idea on the basis of different cognition on the human nature, which was advanced by the schools during the Warring States period ,such as Confucian school, Mo school, Guan-tzu and the Lv Spring and Autumn Annals.
