With the development of positive psychology, psychologists became more interested in the positive trait of human beings and take widely research on positive emotion such as happiness, optimism, hope, as well as greater satisfaction with life. As the most important virtues and positive trait of human beings, gratitude became the most important part in the field of positive psychology. But the research on gratitude is still in the first step, so it is necessary to make a further study on gratitude. The purpose of this research is to provide data and references for the studies of gratitude, make people have further understanding to gratitude and provide clues to the further study of gratitude.Participants were 800 college students chosen from Hebei Normal University, Hebei University of science and technology and Hebei Medical University. The study is to investigate the college students'grateful disposition, empathic ability ,helping tendency and the correlation between them by means of questionnaire and private interviews, and discuss the mediator effect of grateful disposition. The results showed:1. Overall, the scores of the grateful disposition, empathic ability and helping tendency of college students are rather high.2. The analysis of variance shows that on the factor of sense of abundance, there is significant grade difference, the junior get higher score on sense of abundance than sophomore and senior, the freshmen get higher score on sense of abundance than sophomore and senior; there are significant gender difference, girls get higher score on sense of abundance than boys; there are significant difference between urban students and rural students, rural students get higher score than urban students. The interaction between grade and gender was significant and the interaction between gender and area was also significant.3. There has no significant difference between male students and female students,and among grades and area on the factor of Simple Appreciation.4. On the factor of Appreciation of Others, the junior get higher score on sense of abundance than sophomore and senior, the freshmen get higher score on sense of abundance than sophomore and senior; There has no significant difference between male students and female students,and among grades.5. Significantly positive correlation was found between grateful disposition, empathic ability and helping tendency.6. The grateful disposition was a partly mediator between empathic ability and helping tendency.7. The grateful disposition was a partly mediator between empathic ability and helping tendency in the group of college students who get high score on helping tendency.8. The grateful disposition was a completely mediator between empathic ability and helping tendency in the group of college students who get low score on helping tendency.
