Language attitude attributes the psychological category of society, which is very essential in our lingual life. And it can affect profoundly people's lingual competence and lingual behavior. In China, language attitude researches have been conducted mainly in Cantonese-speaking community(such as Hong Kong, Guangzhou), and in some minority nationalities community. The study on language attitude of teen-agers whose mother tongue is Changsha dialect is a vacancy, and this thesis is to probe this problem.The thesis mainly includes the following parts:The first part begins with the purpose and the value of the research, and presents the main methods employed in researches towards language attitudes and broad range of focuses. Next is an overview of the extensive investigations and researches on language attitudes at home and abroad. Finally the significance and method of the study are set out.The second part is concerned with the MGT and its result. It was discussed from the dimensions of social status and group solidarity. The possible explanations of the results were also explored. And the questionnaire was conducted as a supplement by the same subjects in the matched-guise experiment. We analyze the questionnaire and the result of it. The third part is a summary of this paper and discusses some questions.Lastly, the author talked about her harvest and enlightenment from the research and pointed out the problems in the study.
