This dissertation attempts to use the theories about aesthetic of reception to analyze the acceptance of historical literary and artistic works nowadays, especially to analyze the neo-historical novels and the acceptance of the films and TV series adapted by the neo-historical novels. It can be broadly divided into four parts.The first part, literature review of the historical works mainly defines the "neo-historical novel". Neo-historical novel is not the novel of new historicism, and there is no direct link between new historicism and neo-historical novels. In addition, the works of historical films and TV series are classified into history, story and myth in this thesis, at the same time, the author points out that we should combine the contents of the historical films and TV series to analyze the reasons for their being popularized.The second part is the acceptance of neo-historical novels. First of all, the thesis analyzes the creation of the"calling structure". The author believes that the five key points the so-called neo-historical novels are different from the old historical novels lie in the "calling structure" , i.e. perspective transformation, post-narrative, zero emotion, "anti-hero" writing and from the "center" to "marginal." Neo-historical novel writers employ a variety of narrative perspectives, which can bring the feeling of novelty to readers. They take post-narrative to show their comparative awareness by the way of after-examining perspective, which can activate the readers'reading motivation. Contrasting to the way of give many remarks, the neo-historical writers use zero emotional attitudes to tell the story. Lastly, the neo-historical authors would like to create popular "bandits" by describing their ordinary and humbles, which centralize the "marginal figures ", while marginalize the "central figures", which are the heroes of the old historical writers.Secondly, the author divides the expected vision of readers into ordinary and special. The former is general, ordinary and public horizon. The latter is the readers who generally devoted to literary research, literary criticaster, and literature educators. Ordinary readers concerned about the fate of the characters, while the special readers concerned about nature of the reflection and its meaning. Different readers can understand the neo-historical novels differently. With the increase in reading, the ordinary readers will gradually change and richen their visions, even to be keen to the artistic instincts. Of course, the special readers can decode the novels differently as well, and sometimes they even get an opposite understandings, which can be explained from the critics of "Bailuyuan".At last, the thesis analyzes the three significant characteristics of neo-historical novels.Neo-historical writers question the historical rations, which pay more attention to description of the daily life situation, discovery of the psyche, nature and fate of human being, as well as pursuit the cognition and experience, even consideration that the motivation to put the history forward is the inner desire, not the revolutionary dreams and class struggle.Neo-historical novels are favor of the things which happen by chance, and advocate the unexpected contingencies, the novels such as"Lost Boat", "Bailuyuan" and "Alive"are all the same, of which the author of "Alive" abandoned the search and Construction of Utopia through the accidental happens.Neo-historical novels focus on the originality of the stories which can be shown by change of the narrative pattern, discovery of the human themes as well as the deconstruction of the reason and result.The third part is about the acceptance of historical films and TV series.The Director and the audiences have different expectation vision, so the process of the acceptance of films and TV series is also the process of accouterment of director and audiences. There are a lot of disagreements of historical films and TV series. We can find the conflict and integration of two visions by looking at the critics of "Hero", "House of Flying Daggers,""Curse of the Golden Flower"and"Lust, Caution ".When producing a historical film, it is necessary to consider the existence of the implied audiences. In order to win the box office and audience rating, we must take the common into consideration.In addition, we should reflect the historical films and TV series to guide the audiences by checking the production mechanism, the audience psychology and social consciousness.The fourth part is the conclusion.Neo-historical novels can be decoded by different readers by creating a new calling structure, which are different from the old one. And the historical films and TV series should pay more attention to the audience psychology, social consciousness to attract more implied audience and to enhance the economic profit and social effect.
