In the Ming Dynasty, ZhaoYiguang is a special character in the calligraphy world. He is not only the renowned writing scientist, the calligrapher, the inkmaker and the calligraphy theoretician, is also a recluse. While the grass script is greatly abundant in the Ming Dynasty, he develops his own style, and devotes to the research of the seal script calligraphy. Based on the profound understanding of the seal's study, he creatively mixes big, small and the strange seal script, and integrates writing technique and the appeal of the grass script into the seal script writing, thus has formed one kind of unique seal script new look - - "the grass seal". His approach in seal writing is completely different with the predecessor. "The grass seal" breaks down the boundary of the typeface; its unusual reform and bright appearance expand the seal script esthetic domain.This dissertation discovers the forming reasons of seal script by analyzing Zhao Yiguang's life and experience. It induces the characteristic style of his seal script by collecting and studying his seal script work. Also, by analyzing the influence of Zhao Yiguang's seal script to the later generaion, the article tries to build up his seal script's unique status and the function in the Ming Dynasty calligraphy world and even the entire seal script history.
