Yuanhunzhi is a novel collection related to Zhiguai stories completed by YanZhitui in the Sui Dynasty.In this compilation,ghosts' revenge is the chiefly emphasized topic and it is believed to be the most successful pieces among the novels about Zhiguai stories in the Six Dynasties.Based on the whole texts of Yuanhunzhi,in this thesis,the author attempts to make a descriptive summary and a comprehensive analysis about the concrete contents and the narrative structures.What's more,the author deep researches into the details about the causes of the problems involved in ghosts' taking revenge and the cultural characteristics implied internally in this novel collection,and probably a profound understanding is shown.Then,the author expands and broadens the topic into the reasons why such kind of novels related to Zhiguai in which ghosts' revenge is always talked about were developing so rapidly and maturing so greatly in all aspects.Besides,the influences which Buddhism,Taoism and Confucianism had on novels about Zhiguai in this period will be also thoroughly elaborated next.Finally,the whole thesis centers round the core problem of ghosts' revenge which is the theme of Yuanhunzhi and makes a primary and tender research about the social significance,the tendency of revenge expanding, the thought of jurisprudence and the influences on later literature that came along with Yuanhunzhi in order to make a helpful exploration for such kind of research in the future.
