The Search Initially On The Revenge Motif In The Chinese Narrative Literature

The revenge, as one kind of special historical culture phenomenon, has been in vogue in the human history, obtained rich and lasting embodiment in the Chinese Narrative Literature, presented the different motif pattern. According to the different avenger, the revenge motif can be classified the following three kinds of main patterns: "the Consanguinity Revenge", "the Errantry Revenge" and "the Ghost Revenge" which reflect profound human nature foundation and complicated social roots. Firstly, under the traditional culture and the social value criterion in China, Confucianism of "loyalty"," the filial piety"," integrity" and "righteousness" has been the main value orientation and the moral request of the Chinese nation for several millenniums, which merged deeply into the avengers'blood, stimulated people to make response of revenge without a doubt when encounter the life accident; Secondly, the concepts of "Immortal Soul" and "The gentleman feels the friend" dispel the death consciousness of the avenger, casting their stubborn will of no fear of violence and sacrifice; Finally, on the one hand, the legal vacancy has driven the revenge behavior on objective, on the other hand, the support and certainty of the law has provided a theoretical basis for revenge, manifesting the legal mechanism to the revenge behavior in-depth influence. At the same time, revenge as the extreme way of retaliation, its outcome is often devastating, or physically destructive, but spirit still remaining; Or the body is in good health, but the spirit t collapses. Broadly speaking, the revenge motif has three basic outcome, that is "physical destruction type","mental injury type" and "reconciliation reunion type". The paper from the perspective of motif to analyze "the Consanguinity Revenge", "the Errantry Revenge" and "the Ghost Revenge" presented in the Chinese Narrative Literature, then to explore the mentality of the avenger, as well as to give the esthetic explanation and the value confirmation to the results of the revenge, to further realize the new exploration of the revenge motif research.
