Searching Bai YuChan's Deeds In Wuyi Mountain

Taoism has been spread for a long time in Wuyi Mountain,and has affected local culture deedly. Bai Yuchan,who was the fifth ancestor of Inner Alchemy of Southern Lineage in Southern Song Dynasty, lived in Wuyi Mountain sometime.But existing sduties of Bai Yuchan's deeds in Wuyi Mountain are simple and uncomplete and doubtful.This dissertation aims to study the relation between Bai Yuchan and Wuyi Mountain, and focuses on searching Bai Yuchan and his local society activity history. According to his deeds and using a literature cross reference and contrast analysis, his influence to local culture has been probed into, and many new evidences have been produced ,too,such as, the evidences from" Min's book ", KuiYou mid-autumn ,Bai Yuchan associated with Li Renpu and Cai Yuande, and his poems praising to Tianshi ,etc. According to the facts of Bai Yuchan associating with Li Renpu and Cai Yuande, Cai Yuande died in 1173 and Li Renpu died in 1183,they both had been died before 1194.Therefore it is true that the Bai Yuchan was born in 1134 and died in 1229.Bai Yuchan's activities in Wuyi Mountain have also been as a result of textual research. Basing on searching his society activity history and migration pathways throughout his life, I find he had come and left here more than eight times,and lived in Wuyi Mountain lesser than eighteen years. Basing on the works of "Wuyi Mountain records" of Dong Tiangong and "Bai Yuchan's three facts" in Qing Dynasty ,and the fact that Bai Yuchan paid close attention to crane , "Records of Cloud's home",and the custom in Song Dynasty that Daoists must died in Fangu rock of Wuyi Mountain before they become celestial being, It is reasonable that Bai Yuchan died in Wuyi Mountain.Bai Yuchan had written many works during his staying in Wuyi Mountain,according to his works and others references,I find he had almost traveled all places in Scenic Area of Wuyi Mountain, such as Chongyou Guan, Zhizhi Temple, Clould's home, The Nine Bend River ,Wind's cave,A line's sky, Baiyun rock, Mantian Moutain, Bixiao cave, Fugu cave and others places. Chongyou Guan is the most important place that Bai Yuchan lived,and he only lived in Zhizhi Temple for a short time.Bai Yuchan associated with his Taoist friends densely in Wuyi Moutain, such as Huang Jichang, Chen Danshu, Liu Miaoqing, Shu Shen, Chen hongfan, Zhan Yanfu, Chen kongmu, etc.His many students come here where has become a important center of spreading Arts of Thunder and innter Alchemy and getting together and his students. Bai Yuchan has the most important contribution to establish the organization of the Inner Alchemy of Southern Lineage. He broke the tradition of transmiting thoughts of Inner Alchemy only one-students,and built the organization named after "jian"and popularized Inner Alchemy. After studying Bai Yuchan's deeds and reading " Zhuxi's complete works " carefully , I find Bai Yuchan didn't associated with Zhuxi, and some conclusions is wrong at present.Wuyi Mountain's culture and natural Scenic Area were of profound influence on Bai Yuchan's thoughts of Inner Alchemy and his ways to keep in good health, particularly, were of profound influence on practicing his Zhizhi's ways.On the other hand, Bai Yuchan's thoughts of Inner Alchemy, Arts of Thunder and his ways how organized daoists affect those daoists importantly in Yuan and Ming Dynasties,such as ,Jian zhiyang etc. He combined Inner Alchemy with Arts of Thunder,and made them become common customs.Bai Yuchan has the most important contribution to establish the organization of the Inner Alchemy of Southern Lineage. Bai Yuchan's literature thoughts ,such as ,being full of Taoist interest, natural writing techniques, using literary quotations, beautiful words, abundant colorful topics and contents,etc, has deep influenced on Wuyi Mountain's literature from then,too. Bai Yuchan had made a summary to Inner Alchemy. His thoughts and deeds has erged Taoism, neo-Confucianism, Buddhism three thoughts further.,and they are splendid chapters of Wuyi Mountain's culture, and are of momentous current signicance and far-reaching historical signicance in Wuyi Mountain.
