The War And The Singing

Through the investigation on the composition, singing, essence and social role of the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs created from 1931 to 1945, this paper tries to analyze the interrelationship between the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs and the society in the Anti-Japanese War period.This paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter c.eals with the development of the creation and singing condition of the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs. As a whole, the development of the creation and sing of the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs' creation and status can be divided into two stages. The first stage was from "September 18th Event" in 1931 to "July 7th Event" in 1937, which is called the salvation song period. This period, based on the difference of development, also could be divided into two small parts. The second stage is from "July 7th Event" in 1937 to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, which is called the Anti-Japanese Song period and which can be divided into three small parts. Each stage or small part has its own characteristics of development. The second chapter unscrambles the essence of the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs. Through a great deal of work on the original songs, this chapter analyses the background and stories connected with the songs and states the essence of the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs from four aspects. The first group of the songs are those calling on the whole nation to hold together and rise up to fight against the Japanese. The second group narrates the disasters brought by Japanese aggression. The third group exposes the hideous behaviors of all the traitors who helped the Japanese army in the Anti-Japan War. The third chapter mainly points out the positive effect of the Anti-Japanese Salvation Songs from two aspects: firstly, the songs have greatly publicized the idea of resisting the Japanese; and secondly, they have greatly promoted the course of anti Japanese War.
