Social anxiety is a kind of chronic mental disease, usually lasting a long time, and seldom spontaneous healed, seriously affecting sufferer's common life. Social anxiety often arises in middle adolescence, the averaging occurring age of which is earlier than other anxiety diseases. The studies show that the incidence of social anxiety is high in young groups, and the incidence of public speech anxiety, a particular social anxiety behaving to fear public speech, is very close to the above mentioned incidence of social anxiety in young groups. The fear and abient behavior related with social anxiety offen hurt the professional and social function, and seriously affect the common life of suffer. Although the different scholars either in China or oversea obtain the almost same conclusion on the study of social anxiety, the domestic studies of social anxiety are few, and the psychological study of public speech is even blank. In the available Chinese references, there is no study on the cognitive-behavioral group therapy for social anxiety yet. This thesis studies the mechanism and efficiency of the cognitive-behavioral group therapy for a particular symptom of social anxiety, public speech anxiety. The main aim contains the following three aspects: 1. to study the mechanism and efficiency of the cognitive-behavioral group therapy for social anxiety in Chinese college students. 2. to study the mechanism and efficiency of the osmotic speaking ability training as an cognitive-behavioral group therapy for the public speech anxiety. 3. to study the symptom changes of public speech anxiety after the cognitive-behavioral group therapy. This study follows reference study method, social investigation method, and experimental study method. In October 2007, 193 college students of Hubei college of traditional Chinese medicine were randomly questionnaire investigated. From December 2007 to January 2008, 10 members of experimental team accepted the cognitive-behavioral group therapy. The statistical data shows the following research results:1. PRCS has the good reliability and validity, and applies very well to college students.2. The cognitive-behavioral group therapy decreases the social anxious levels of suffers effectively.3. The osmotic speaking ability training as a cognitive-behavioral group therapy for the public speech anxiety is apparently effective. In detail, the improvement of the emotion section of public speech is most remarkable after cognitive-behavioral group therapy. And the improvement of the physiological and behavior section is also obvious. Although the improvement of the language and thinking section is less obvious, it also has statistic difference. Then it can be concluded from the above findings that, the long term therapy and the self-conscious effort during the individual development are absolutely needed to thoroughly improve the deep level section of cognitive structure, such as language and thinking.
