Aesthetic experience is an important topic in the study of the aesthetic theory, which has been discussed and explained by a number of aesthetics and artists from all over the world, either directly or indirectly. With the development of this concept, it is inevitable for aesthetic experience to become a hot topic in aesthetic researches by the promotion of the current aesthetic reality. Due to the prevalence and development of mass media, aesthetic experience shows itself with new characteristics and various relevant phenomena which need further exploration so that the nature and features of aesthetic experience can be better understood. To begin with, the thesis analyzes the connotation of aesthetic experience. Based on the previous researches of aesthetic experience, the thesis makes clear the definition of aesthetic experience, explicitly explains its philosophical basis, interprets several relevant factors like aesthetic apperception, aesthetic objects and aesthetic feelings, and finally sums up the mechanism experience and the universal characteristics of the aesthetic experience. The second part of the thesis makes a detailed exploration and analysis of the impacts of mass media on the contemporary aesthetic experience. Mass media make the people live an aesthetic and artistic life. Nowadays, aesthetic experience of the people takes on new characteristics such as plane-oriented, privacy-oriented, diversity-oriented, fiction-oriented and so on, which are the results of the impacts of mass media on aesthetic experience. The thesis analyzes the characteristics of aesthetic experience and the impacts of mass media on the contemporary aesthetic experience from two important aspects: the breakthrough and the impingement of mass media to the past aesthetic experience. On the one hand, under the influence of the mass media, the art is elaborated in more ways and by more means than before, which enrich people's accepting manners and aesthetic concepts. People's previous aesthetic experience has become rich and various while their aesthetic anticipation for the dynamic solid has been aroused. People experience a process of the recognizing the time and space and identifying one's existent in a virtual field. On the other hand, attributing to the press of the technology and the speed and the conversion of aesthetic manners, the "shock" in the aesthetic experience is replaced by pleasure and amazement brought by the lax mood. Questions to the profundity of the history as well as the attention to the existence of individuals and the society are cleared up in the avocation of "ease life" which is prevailing in the media context. The worship and pursuance for speed result in the neglect of careful observation and deep thinking. In the third part, the thesis gives analyses and demonstrations of three prominent phenomena of the contemporary aesthetic experience. They are phenomena of body aesthetic experience, phenomena of "child-oriented" aesthetic experience, entertainment-oriented aesthetic experience and phenomena of the Ugly bash. The thesis aims at offering specific examples to support the arguments through the analysis of the three phenomena. The mass media have both positive and negative impacts on the contemporary aesthetic experience. We should admit that the mass media has its unique advantages in the dissemination of the aesthetic value of things and events since our aesthetic experience becomes various, rich, novel and unique while the field of aesthetic experience has been extended to a great extent because of the existence of the mass media. Even so, we should also realize the negative effect and take the initiative to find out the threats that are brought by the mass media to the aesthetic experience.
