Excavating And Docking Of Modern Design Elements In Huxiang Culture

The regional culture belongs to the category of national culture, national characteristic is also universal. Huxiang culture is the regional culture which has the unique regional color , forming under the big background of Chinese culture. It is not only accumulation and crystallization of long history, a magnificent wonderful flower in the long annals of the gorgeous world culture, but also inexhaustible creativity source of the modern design. Designers can create a new artistic form and artistic style with Chinese style, national content and distinct regional characteristics by choosing their "shape" , extending their "meaning" and transmitting their "spirit"."Only Chu produces so many talents, and thus the place so prosperous" . Along with Hunan people's splendid performance in historical arena in recent hundreds of years, Huxiang culture has received common people's widespread attention and confirmation, it has become the important topic in the researches of Chinese modern history. But, in the upsurge of researches on Huxiang culture, nearly nobody step in the studies systematically and thoroughly on excavating and docking modern design elements in Huxiang culture. Therefore, this research may fill this blank, it has high theory value without a doubt.This thesis bases on Hunan's culture, surveys modern design elements in Huxiang culture from Chinese and world angle of view. According to the theory of sociology, ethnology, anthropology, esthetics and economics ,etc., the author has carried on research and discussion thoroughly, systematically on docking Huxiang culture with modern design from the aspect of its spirit and substance by utilizing methods such as inspection museum, survey market, interview, literature methodology, case methodology, real diagnosis research, etc., in order to excavate, inherit and develop Huxiang culture. It may promote culture industrialization construction, it is important action which develops the national culture and enhances cohesive force of national culture. Moreover , it may have the instruction function to Hunan's design domain, has positive and profound influence to national and even the world visual cultural industry, and promote the development of design service objects such as product sale, real estate, tourism and so on, promote the social economy development, thus achieve the goal that the culture causes the province and the entire country to be prosperous and powerful.There are four parts as the follows in this thesis:Part one: Analyze the national and international research background and research current situation, explain concept and connotation of the culture and Huxiang culture, and, explore the source of Huxiang culture.Part two: Analysis the essence of Huxiang Culture sch as "worry about entire world" , "dare to be the first" , "put theories into practice" , "seek truth from facts" , "be indomitable", "incorporate things of diverse nature", etc. Probe into docking between them and modern design.Part three: Analyze typical material cultures that they can provide the sculpt elements in the Huxiang culture for the modern design , such as architecture in Hunan, unearthed relics from tomb of Han Dynasty at Mawangdui, Hunan Nuo culture, New Year picture in Longhui, etc., as well as calligraphy , seal cutting, and Chinese painting art in Hunan and so on. Inquire into docking between them and modern design.Part four:Analyze the typical material cultures that they can provide the elements of material medium in the Huxiang culture for the modern design: Hunan chinaware such as Changsha kiln and Liling porcelain, Hunan's unearthed bronzeware, Hunan's unearthed bamboo piece books and silk painting, Hunan's silk fabrics, Xiang Embroidery , Hunan's folk cotton print and so on.
