Socrates, the great thinker, philosopher and moralist in ancient Greece, has made great influences on western ideology. The thoughts on harmony have taken a major part in his works. He changed his academic interest from nature to the secular world, which provides, in turn, an opportunity for the form of his theory on harmony. This paper dialectically and systematically elaborates Socrates' theory on harmonious society, and objectively assesses its historical advances and limitations so as to reveal its subsequent effect as well as its significance for us to construct a harmonious socialist nation.The paper divided into three parts of preface, text and conclusion.The preface introduces theoretical and realistic meaning, the current research of domestic and international and the innovation.The text comprises four chapters. The first chapter introduces the theoretical and societal realistic context in which 'ideology comes into being, and analyzes the individual psychology as well as the economy, politics and ideology in Athens in those days, thus making for the conclusion that Socrates' theory on harmonious society reflects and transcends the social realities of Athens.The second chapter propounds the components of his thought: Socrates speaks of establishing a harmonious city state full of legality, unity and wisdom, advocates fairness and justice, worships virtue, and portrays the harmonious relationship between city states and individuals, individuals and individuals.The third chapter dissects the historical advances and limitations of his theory and meanwhile discusses its influence upon many western classical thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Cynicism and Epicurus. The fourth chapter and the conclusion mainly focuses on such ideas as democratic law system, justice, honest and friendship in the construction of socialism harmonious society.
