Liu Zhenqiu' Artistic Features Of Opera Music Composition

Opera has passed a history of more than 400 years since the creation of the first worldly known opera "Davini" . It developed from the mere opera to a variety of operas including.......The elements blended in the operas are getting increasingly complicated. Moreover, Chinese opera has opened its historical page with "Sparrow and Kids" , "Little Painter" composed by Li Jinhui, a famous composer from Hunan province.After undergoing kids'……, Chinese opera has passed eighty hard years full of ups and downs in compliance with the two major trends: imitate the western traditional large opera and mimic the American musical opera.Despite that opera is an exotic artistic form among various Chinese musical art, it has formed its own features through the years which has witnessed the emergence of a host of famous opera music composers who have made great contributions to the development of Chinese opera. Among them is Liu Zhenqiu, the outstanding contemporary musician from Hunan province.In his life, he has produced over 20 pieces of opera music, over 200 songs, a great many drama music, and film music, and also won "Wenhua Composition Award" several times. However, what makes him compose so many excellent opera pieces? This article intends to conduct a research on the common composing techniques and characteristics based upon the artistic features of his representative masterpiece "There Is a Mountain Once Upon a Time" , with a view to obtaining some inspirations for the development of Chinese opera. This article consists of three parts. The first part serves as the introduction which draws a rough picture of Chinese opera and Mr.Liu's composition and points out the intention and significance of conducting this research. The second part is the main body made up of three sections. The first section generalizes the basic features of Chinese opera and key compositions, and expounds Mr. Liu's composition and achievements. Then second section analyzes the artistic features of the piece " There Is a Mountain Once Upon a Time" . The third section summarizes the composing techniques and artistic features reflected and employed throughout his pieces.
