As a type of human culture, music culture has many manifestations, among which is Chinese opera. Local opera Liu was well developed before, but today under the development of socio-economic globalization, it is facing the unprecedented challenges, including the loss of audience and the danger of extinction. This paper is to conduct a more comprehensive analysis of local opera Liu and put forward reasonable preservation sugggestions, which aim to enrich the study of national music and arouse the public attention.The article can be divided into four parts, using the research methods of investigation to sort out, organize and analyze the collected data.Chapter I discusses the origins, significance and literature review of the study. Chapter II explores the introduction of local opera liu, completed with the historical origins, the survival of humanistic environment as well as artistsic characteristics and value, meanwhile, it also conducts a deep study of its formation process from folk songs to opera and analyzes its social value which is the main spiritual food of northern Shandong people in the 1970s and 1980s. Chapter III makes a more detailed analysis of its artistic characteristics and is also the key part of the study. Music for voice in a Chinese opera: it is characterized by the main tune of flower and sadness as well as the singing ways from other operas. Sad tune is its unique singing way and has plaintive melody and full of pathos. And flower tune is lively which is used for the performance of cheerful feelings. Accompaniment: the main accompaniment is four-stringed bowed instrument and so-na trumpet, the former is melodious and the latter is used in blown sub-stack. Singing: it is based on the actors'own conditions, possesses rural flavor and combines the true with the false voice. The fine polished style is really popular among the local people. Performance: it is natural and has simple dressing and form. Language: its lyrics and spoken parts have a strong local color with colloquial and popular features. Teaching ways: it adopts the way of dictating. Lyrics: the lyrics must be symmetrical and the number of the lyrics must be even. Repertoire: it has a wide range of repertoire, many of which are based on folklores, historical stories and legends. There are altogether 80 existing repertoire, most of which are instructive. Chapter IV anaylizes the current situation and its development trend and also sets forth the reasonable suggestions. Local opera liu is also the outcome of external and internal factors.Under the conditions of market economy, in order to survive, it must constantly enrich and perfect and focus on the future development.
