The goal of this dissertation is to fully study the properties of V-R Compouds"V单+wan". On the one hand, we can improve our understanding of resultative construction. On the other hand, we can make clear the complicated semantic relationship between wan and subject, predicate and object in the construction of"V单+wan".Chapter1 Acording to the different semantic relevances of wan, we divide wan into wan1 which has the semantic relevance with the predicate, wan2 which not only has the semantic relevance with the predicate, but also has the semantic relevance with the patient object, wan3 which has the semantic relevance with the non-patient subject. Then with the help of transformational analysis and semantic relevance analysis, we analyse the subjects and objects of the three wan. Baseing on this, combining the distribution theory of the structuralist linguistics which was very popular at the beginning of twentieth century, we try to conclude and extract the distribution law of the three wan. At last, by the fusion and semantic relevance principle which was put forward by Bybee in 1985, we establish a fusion hierarchy between the threen wan and monosyllabic verb, and explain the motivations. In addition, we verify our viewpoint from the diachronic perspective.Chapter2 First of all, we interpret the theory of boundedness and unboundednes. Combining image schema and some marked words, we make further studies on the boundedness and unboundedness of the verbs. Also we analyse the complete sentence function of the boundedness constituent and the sentence patterns which need the boundedness of the predicate., such as, ba construction, bei construction, verb copying construction and topic construction. Then we analyse the bounded function of the predicate of the particle le1 and guo1. Basing on this, we attempt to combine boundedness and unboundedness and the semantic relation of the resultative wan. Finally, we explain the influence of the semantic referent of the objects on the semantic relevances of wan2 and its bounded function from cognitive perspectiveChapter3 First, we disscuss the semantic compatibility between wan and monosyllabic verb. The verbs which can collocate with wan1 and wan2 have to have process, not be instantaneous. The collocational restrictions is very free between wan3 and verbs. The verbs not only can be continuous, but also can be instantaneous and nonvolitional. Then we make a statistics that how many verbs in the Chinese verb usage dictionary can collocate with wan. In addition, referring to"V单+wan",we clearly analyse the semantic difference of negation between resultive construction and simple verbs in the same image schema. At last, using transformational analysis and semantic relevance analysis, we analyse the autonomous semanity of wan1 and wan3 ,and the causative semanity of wan2 .Chapter4 Combining image schema and some examples, we analyse the double function of le1 in detail. About guo1., we think it is a resultive verb , not a dynamic aux. Then we analyse universal function of le1 , guo1 and wan1 which are all behind the predicate verb: (i) they all have the bounded function of the predicate verb in the single-verb sentence; (ii) they all have the bounded function of the first predicate verb in the seria verb sentence; (iii) because they are all not only used in past tense sentenses, but also are used in present and future sentences, so they all indicate aspect , not tense.
