There is a voice of reflections and highly praise to Old Shanghai in the new ideology that is formed since the 1990s.Nostalgic literature almost uses 1930's and 1940's foreign concessions along the Bund as the background to describe a single Shanghai——modern and luxurious Shanghai. In this background, Wang Anyi's writing on Shanghai in 1990s has a special significance. She re-writes Shanghai remote areas, the labour world, alley life that is excluded by popular ideologies. This paper attempts to interpret Everlasting Regret and after several of the novel by Wang Anyi to grasp the shape of the main image of Shanghai, to grasp the complexity and richness of Shanghai.The introduction of the thesis discusses three questions,including the reasons for the study of Wang Anyi's Everlasting Regret and after several novels,the points and gives a summary of the current results of researches.Text of the paper has three chapters.ChapterⅠanalyzes Everlasting Regret which is the first novel on Shanghai since the 1990s. In Everlasting Regret, buerjiaoe woman Wang Qiyao is spokesman for Shanghai. Shanghai's brilliant appearance indicates substantial daily life. This novel shows several different forms of the daily lives, the daily life of the buerjiaoe is exquisite and interesting; Correspondingly, the daily life of the proletariat is humble and boring; Wu Bridge's daily life is extremely simple. Wang Anyi believes that daily life of buerjiaoe on Huaihai Road can represent Shanghai.ChapterⅡdiscusses pioneering significance of Fu-ping. In this novel, Wang Anyi recognizes Shanghai from other angle. She selects an ordinary underlying people Fu Ping as clue to link the daily lives of three different world in Shanghai: the Huaihai Road, shantytowns, plum Bridge. In Fu-ping, the proletarian lifestyle begins to show bright,healthy side. At the same time, Daily life of Huaihai Road becomes to be complicated and gloomy in the novel. Fu Ping ultimately roots in the Plum bridge.Such circumstances, to some extent, reflects the value of Wang Anyi: pure and simple health patterns can be representative of the daily lives of Shanghai.Chapter III starts with the Analysis for Yu Xiaoqiu which is a new image of Shanghai, and grasps Wang Anyi's new understanding of Shanghai.Yu Xiaoqiu lives in the environment that is lack of warm, but is full of rumors, misunderstanding and temptations, but she eventually overcomes these obstacles and grows purely and healthily. It can be said that this novel writes a real Shanghai: It has a legendary beginning, but ultimately attributes to the usual.In short, this paper attempts to analyze the contact and changes between Wang Anyi's Everlasting Regret and after several novels, and grasps the course that is from writing a critical spokesman for Shanghai to establish an ideal main that represents Shanghai, grasps the spirit of Shanghai and the life in Shanghai.
