"Odd Songs" Phenomenon Interpretation

Children's folk rhymes refer to the songs that sung by children. The form of children's folk rhymes is relatively brief. It reflects the children's views and feelings to social life and has entertainment and educational functions in the field of children enlighten, such as the song "I find a penny on the side of the road, I am not hasted to hand it on to Policeman.". Based on documents analysis and empirical investigation, this paper found that a lot of traditional rhymes are fading out from children's world, but those rewritten poem and folk rhymes ,those vulgar rhymes expressing suppressed spirit and dissatisfaction with the study life, are now sweeping throw the primary schools and middle schools. This kind of rhymes could be called as odd songs, such as "In my mind, the teachers are most fierce ones, for they let us studying till 10 o'clock. At home, mum is the most fierce one, for she focuses on my homework and never stop."The turning up of odd songs has caught the sights of the vast number of the teachers, parents and researchers. This paper will take a close reading to odd songs' content based on a large number of collections. We found that odd songs are mainly about the life, relationships and value viewpoints of students. It mainly expresses the students helpless to the heavy burden of the study task, the dissatisfaction to the teaching way, the teacher-student relationship and the parent -child relationship, the rejection to the school system and standard, the loss to the multiple value point in real life and so on.Systematically and comprehensively, this paper will analyze the reasons why odd songs concern such points. We found that, the following facts have a lot to do with it. Such as the suppression of the exam-oriented education, high expectation from parents, disharmonious relationship between teachers and students, the infiltration of popular culture and the early-maturing of children led by the transparent social environment.Since the widespread existence of odd songs has its foundation, what will it influence the development of the students who enjoy in singing it? This paper will study odd songs functions both from positive aspects and negative ones. It will conclude that odd songs have lots of functions such as psychological satisfaction, cultural identity, social participation and information dissemination.Finally, the paper will point out that we should not simply ban the odd songs, but lead it to play a positive function and reduce its negative function. For school education, we can enhance the cultural construction and courses construction .The teachers should strengthen their communication with parents, make good use of teacher's authority respect for the views of students and so on.
