The Great Cultural Revolution as a special social movement inChina and the world has attracted the attention of overseas scholarsfrom the beginning of the outbreak. There has lots of researchesproduction of The Great Cultural Revolution in a direct way. Butthesis that researching the relationship between the process of GreatCultural Revolution and the song with the song as a starting point isless. Through organizing historical documents and data related to theGreat Cultural Revolution, we can see that the birth of arts andculture of the Great Cultural Revolution has a special significanceform-Cultural Revolution songs, which accompanied by almost theentire course of the Cultural Revolution. The song is an era beat noteand concentrated style show of the social aspect and the massconcentration of mind. Through songs we can know the people’sheart sounds of the time. This paper attempts to study the GreatCultural Revolution songs, a special cultural phenomenon during theGreat Cultural Revolution, to further sort out and restore the GreatCultural Revolution.Through using the theory of social movement and the theory ofpolitical symbols, this paper discusses the songs’ political function asa political symbol in the Great Cultural Revolution. Through deeplyexploring the function of the songs as political symbols, clarifyingthe internal logic between the Great Cultural Revolution song’screation and dissemination and the Great Cultural Revolution,revealing the process of the Great Cultural Revolution’s occurringand developing in a deep extent, showing the political and socialscene of the special historical period. Paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction part mainly elaborate researchpurpose, research significance, current research status, researchmethods and theoretical framework.The second chapter is mainly introduced symbolic political theory,the Great Cultural Revolution songs deemed political symbolsymbolic and political functions it carries research on people’s role inpolitical mobilization of the masses and also discussed the GreatCultural Revolution period songs and their characteristics.The third chapter mainly studies the Great Cultural Revolutionsong’s political mobilization during the mass movement. It mainlyresearch two type of song:(1) the official auspices of songwriting andpublicity, including praise songs and sayings of Mao song;(2)spontaneous folk songwriting: Red Guards songs. By stimulatingpeople to worship Chairman Mao’s unlimited, using song evokingpeople’s emotion, prompting people to take action, and thus play arole in mobilizing the masses, and promoting the Great CultureRevolution situation into a peak, forming a revolutionary scenes of"National is a voice ".The fourth chapter studies the song in the latter part of the GreatCultural Revolution. On the one hand authority through propagandathe song try to maintain the legality, on the other hand youth whosuffer from the campaign of up to mountain and down to villagegradually lost its "revolutionary " enthusiasm and calm down fromthe hustle and bustle of the collective frenzy, they pay more attentionto individual emotional expression, songs naturally expressed his "revolution " of dissatisfaction and self-awakening. The fifth chapter is conclusion part. By examining the process ofthe Great Cultural Revolution, and organize the historical documentsand information about the Great Culture Revolution, the relationshipbetween the songs and the movement of Great Cultural Revolution isintricately intertwined. We can’t simply say the movement of GreatCultural Revolution contributed to the song of special significanceand can’t overstate the fermentation of the song to the Great CulturalRevolution. Certainly, the song during the Great Cultural Revolutionchanges with the movement varies. The song of the Great CulturalRevolution played an important role in the whole Great CulturalRevolution and promote the movement in a certain extent and hasplayed a special political function in this special period.
