Britain gothic novel is a crucial branch of international gothic novel. Female gothic research is in full flourish during recent years. And, imago of confinement is a significant feature that appears frequently in this article style.By concentrating on three female gothic master pieces and comparing them, this paper aims at analyzing the specific influence of the imago of confinement on the women following the doctrines of irrational and sublimity. Besides, it also determines to grope for the reasons of this phenomenon and the solution to it.
