Directed at the present dissatisfactory situation of adult English reading teaching, this thesis presents the introduction of Interactive Approach (IA). The Interactive Approach can offer the ideal teacher-student interactions and communication, which can create a harmonious learning atmosphere, reduce the adult students'anxiety, inspire their interest in study. The study firstly proves the necessity of implementing IA by means of data analysis of the Questionnaires for the students and the teachers at Adult Educational Institute of North China Electric Power University. A 16-week teaching experiment among the freshmen of 2007 at this institute is designed, which mainly adopts the interactive methods. It proves that these interactive methods could wipe out some reading obstacles and then develop the students'reading proficiency through a synthetic data analysis of the scores of the experimental and control group in the pretest and posttest and data analyzing in detail from three aspects of reading proficiency. Some suggestions to the adult English reading teaching have been put forward at the end of the thesis.
