The Changsha Kingdom was a subsidiary state under the rule of the Han Dynasty, which was empowered to commence governing in the fifth year of Han Gao Zu (BC 202) and which was abolished the exercise of power of itself in the thirteenth Jianwu year of Guang Wu Di (AD 37) in the Han Dynasty, it amounted to more than two hundred twenty years from the beginning to the end. During these years, with the development of the Changsha Kingdom, it harmonized the cultural factors of Han and created a distinctive and brilliant academic culture on the basis of inheritance from the culture of Chu, so the Changsha Kingdom dominated an important position in the history of the academic development in the Han Dynasty. In this thesis, integrating the history and culture of the Changsha Kingdom, the author gains a foothold of the cultural and historical materials, and takes full advantage of the documents unearthed, then the author carries on deep research into the academics of the Changsha Kingdom by elaborating four parts below minutely and thoroughly: the natural human environment which is pregnant with and brings about the academics of the Changsha Kingdom, the academic prosperity of the Changsha Kingdom, the comparison of the academics between the Changsha Kingdom and the other subsidiary states and the status and influence of the academics of Changsha Kingdom in the history of the academic development in the Han Dynasty.In the first part, it explicates the situation of empowerment and abolishment of the Changsha Kingdom and its changes in territory, meanwhile, it describes the natural human environment which is pregnant with and brings about the academics of the Changsha Kingdom.In the second part, the author mainly presents the academic prosperity of the Changsha Kingdom by the culture of Han Tomb in Mawangdui, and then shows the academic activities about Jiayi who was relegated in the Changsha Kingdom , what's more, the author reveals these activities' influence on the academic development of the Changsha Kingdom. Finally, the author investigates the concrete situations related to these academic activities of the others in the Changsha Kingdom. In the third part, the author probes into the academic exchanges between the Changsha Kingdom and the other subsidiary states, and also compares the characteristics of academic development of the Changsha Kingdom with the ones of the other subsidiary states.In the last part, the author expounds the status and influence of the academics of Changsha Kingdom in the history of the academic development in the Han Dynasty.
