Literary classics is a focous in the current literature study. Studying on literary classics, especially the status of Chinese classics in view of postmodern culture, has great significance.Begining with the traceability of "classic" in Western and Chinese context, this thesis firstly outlines classics' traditional implication and analizes its factors. According to current complex discussions on "classic" in the literary circle, this paper thinks the forming factors of classics include aesthetical, historical, ideological and so on. The paper holds that the formation of literary classics is a complex process, caused by both "iternal" and "external" factors.With the emergence of postmodern industrial society, various postmodern cultural thoughts influenced literature greatly. The notable features of postmodern society are the impaction of consumeral culture, the changingness of mass media, the emergence of cultural studies and postclassical criticism. They have brought great impaction and deconstruction to the classics, changing their forms, altering their modle in transmission and explaination. Postmodern culture has changed classics' beings, cultural contexts and valuable norms.In Chinese particular context, the literary classics have not only postmodern common characteristics, but also special characteristics. Big talk and parody, dissemination with images, reconstrution the history of literature are notable features of literary classics. They have digested depth significance of text and artistic flavor, strengthened their popularities, images and sensory stimulations. They have began to reconstruct literary classics with contemporary cultural significance.Facing such a special Chinese cultural context, how to deal with literary classics is an urgent problem. Considering their value and significance, we should re-examine literary classics in traditional significance. At the same time, we should re-construct opening and multiple literary classics, combining the specific circumstances of modern culture.
