Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio is the florilegium of short stories written by the famous novelist Pu Songling of Qing Dynasty in classical Chinese, which has a significant status in the history of the Chinese novel, even the literatural development. There are always different controversies over this book and the writer himself. But one point is in common, that is almost all of Pu's creating activities happened in the region of Shandong Province and the content of most articles in the florilegium are relative to this geographical region.Therefore, Shandong Province in early Qing was set to be the background of the creation. The book Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio shows some quality of the cultural mode in the area of Shandong at that time, which in reverse also have effect on the writing of the book. Studying the florilegium from the aspect of cultural mode in Shandong, especially the typical area of Zichuan, can broaden the view of the research both on the book and the writter, promoting the development of cultural"ecology"and its application to the area of literature, and providing some experience in combining the literary wooks with the studies of cultural mode.By the method of statistics, we do some tentative research on the geographical areas and its distribution involved in Pu's articles,then fix the feasibility of the thesis's topic and the sphere of application. After that, refering to the local unofficial history and kinds of legends, we arrage some historical materials and lirerary works which are interrelated with the cultural mode of Zi Chuan such as Shandong Tong Zhi and Zichuan Xian Zhi,then we conclude some features of Shandong's cultural mode in eraly Qing that performed in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio by comparing the book with the contemporaneous ones.This thesis is divided into four parts:The first part is preface, showing the reasons of chosing Shandong as the ecological study model and the research approach. In the second part, combining with other kinds of local literal materials, we describe the performance that the cultural mode of Zichuan shows in the Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio. In the third part, the aiticle analyzes the opponency between exalted and low ,as well as the blending of Qi and Lu culture in Shandong, which can be reflected in the cultural mode of typical Zichuan. This mode also influences Pu Songling's perspective and value orientation when writing novels. The last part is a systimetical discourse, it invesigates different effects of Shandong's cultural mode on the subject of Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio, the strata conflict showed in the content, the noble-light perspective of the book and its passing process in the history.
