Zuofen born in Linzi of Shandong, who was the sister of the great poet Zuosi, was a Wei-Jin period outstanding female literary talent, the imperial concubine of Emperor Wu of the West Jin Dynasty. Her literature was outstanding and she was famous for her poetry. Her appearance was ugly. It was very different from the others who were selected into Palace because of their beauty. Zuofen was selected by completely her literary talent. Her family was poor, but her families advocated Confucian from generation to generation.
