The creation of professional Chinese multiple-voice begins with early 1920s. When the composers work on the music creation, they often adopt pentatonic notes on melody work. However in Chinese traditional music, although it exists many forms of multiple-voice combination and hormonal elements, it hasn't formed completely hormonal system.. Therefore the application of multiple-voice on most musical creation, it almost adopts the ways of European harmony. However the base of these two mode is different, there must be some conflicts between the melody an-d harmony. When we work on the multiple-voice music creation, we may come u-pon some problems about how to make up the harmony. The same as folk song in other area, pentatonic scale is also the base of Korean music melody. In order to make the harmony fit the characters of the Korean ethnic music, we must investigate the characters of pentatonic mode and the techniques of harmony because it is an important premise of Korean melody creation and hormonal ethnic styles.As one of the self-characteristic of pentatonic mode melody harmony, the structures of ethnic harmony contains structures of chord, the process of harmony, the ways of expanding of scale, key and so on.The paper chooses the Chinese pentatonic scale as its subject of investigation. Through analysis of characters of mode, the characters of hormonal functions, the effects, structures and ways of harmony, it summarizes the general ways of harmony. It aims to make this application to the Korean ethic music creation.
