First proposed in the 1980's, reflective teaching has been favored among educators in the 1990's, especially in some western countries. Now, reflective teaching practice has become a central theme in the world. Recently, the Chinese educators have begun to pay attention to the researches in this field. Reflective teaching means looking at what you do in the classroom, thinking about why you do it, and whether it works or not-a process of self-observation and self-evaluation. By collecting information about what goes on in the classroom, and by analyzing and evaluating the information, the teachers can identify and explore their practice in the classroom and their underlying beliefs. This study aims at finding problems in today's English class at college with reflective teaching. Because of the influence of the traditional teacher-centered teaching method, the college students do not like to speak English in the class. But with the development of the world communication, the "deaf and "dump" English is not welcome in today's society. The teachers teach a lot, but the result is not so good.Aiming to solve the problems above, four English teachers of non-English majors at Guizhou Financial and Economic College were chosen as the subjects of the study. They reflected their teaching in the teaching practice and found out the problems in their teaching. Then they thought about the causative factors of the problems and worked out some ways to deal with them. The research lasted for 8 weeks. The data were collected through various means, mainly teacher interviews, teacher logs and questionnaires. Throughout the action research process, a reflection cycle was carried out in form of problem identification, hypothesis presentation, action planning, action taking, evaluation and reflection. The results of the research were analyzed by means of a comparison of the difference of the interview, the questionnaire, and the teaching video. The major findings of the research were: by reflective teaching, 1) the four teachers have removed some shortcomings in their teaching and improved their teaching; 2) the students' interest of the English class has been improved; and 3) the atmosphere of the English class has become more harmonious.Reflective teaching practice creates a higher requirement for the College English teachers. It may lead to changes and improvements in teaching as well as in teachers' professional development for College English teaching.
