The English Musical Cats is a re-creation composed by Andrew .Lloyd .Webber which based on the famous poem Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S.Eliot .The success of Cats was built on the comprehensive integration of three major factors: original literature (poem), music, and dance. The author is aesthetically viewing this musical through the angles of 'Form', 'Emotion' and 'Expression'. 'Form' is focusing on the sources of script and the clue of plot, and also the aesthetically experiences of genre, cultural background, dancing and stage design; 'Emotion' is mainly exploring the distinctiveness of the music part and the emotional mode of the whole musical through analyzing the 'Memory' section. 'Expression' is an extension of previous two; the author is trying to summarize the social and aesthetic values of Cats, getting to apprehend its actual meaning and the connotative philosophy. It can be discerned that the sharing of aesthetic sensibility and the emotional resonance coexist in this musical, this point is right the central concern of this thesis.
