LiJinHui's Children Music Composition As Reflected In The Journal The Little Friend

The Little Friend, a weekly journal for children art and literature, was founded by Li Jinhui in April, 1922, the journal was on the top list of the counterparts in terms of sales volume and social impact. Li Jinhui, issued his works in each journal, unfortunately, however, not every work was archived and able to be found for study. Due to the uncomplete collections of The Little Friend, researhcers can hardly dedicated on documents collecting and works categorizing for his children music, results less in depth the studies in this field.Referring to the existing The Little Friend archived in the Shanghai Youth and Children Press, the Library of Shanghai Reference Book Press, as well as the Shanghai Library, the author collect the children music works composed by Li Jinhui and made a systematic catalogue, based on the above work, the author substantiate the composing principals raised by Li Jinhui himself, clarified another composing method indicated in his works, and formalized his children music marketing model.This article is composed of two parts:The first part, discussing the whole facts regarding his founding The Little Friend, including the reasons why he founded the journal, the journal's positioning, genre, content, editing methods and marketing styles as well as introducing Li's compositions issued in the journal.The second part, discussing of Li Jinghui's composing principals: educating children on music to promote the 'new culture movement', to popularize the standard Chinese pronunciation, and to strengthen patriotism; advancing the innovation of children's music composing through interactivity.Conclusion: discussing Li Jinhui's efforts to construct an arts education garden for children through The Little Friend, as well as his achievements on constructing the music marketing model.
