This thesis integrates the usage of Chinese vocabulary of crossing the field and teaching Chinese as a foreign language by using methods like questionnaire test and statistical description and so on. By means of analyzing the answers from intermediate and senior overseas students who are both in language environment and without language environment, this paper probes into various features of the Chinese meanings of crossing register acquired by two different groups of overseas students.The results find that in two different circumstances, the overseas students have different understanding of the vocabulary of crossing the field, while two-level students have the same awareness of the vocabulary and its type. They understand The meanings of language using in originally field better than meanings crossing the fild of language using. The students mainly use the terms of morphology, structure and form of morpheme to guess the meaning of language using in originally field;The different intensity of context doesn't cause a significant impact on the understanding results of the two-level students; They have a good grasp of the emotion and nature of meaning crossing the fild of language using; The meanings of language using in the originally field affects their understanding of meaning crossing the fild of language using obviously; In different types of derivatives and semantic transparency, the cognitive results of the students have various features.The reason for the formation of these characteristics can be divided into the internal and external. The internal reasons include the context, the meanings of language using in the originally field, the types of derivatives between the meanings of language using in originally and crossing the fild of language using, and semantic transparency. The external ones include the language level of the overseas students and the background knowledge, teaching materials and teachers and social environment.As to teaching cross-field Chinese vocabulary in TCFL, it should be phased into teaching the meanings of language using in originally field, the meanings crossing the fild of language using and teaching in different types of semantic derivatives and semantic transparency.
