As display design is a synthesized and pragmatic subject, the paper demonstrates the feasibility of introducing positive research to commercial display design and related theoretic foundation and circles the research area at first. And as the core of commercial display design is to attract and grasp consumers and make the design stand out the marketplace, the study ,on one hand, has lucubrated the cognition process and purchase procedure of consumers after reviewing the development history of display design theoretically. On the other hand, the study carries on field survey in the light of positive research's view point and method by putting out questionnaires gradually and pertinently. In the end, by combining the researches above into a design program, the study suggest that the representation and means of commercial display design has to cater to consumer's cognition phases and mentality movement. And the program has been tested in the practice of display design.The study on display design education, the implement of the course demands the change of teaching procedure and pattern form the deduction way to the exploration-discovery-synthesis induction way, so as to expect the way of teaching to be a constructive process benefiting the innovative talents. By investigating a commercial pedestrian street in systematical way, the inscapes of commercial display are drawn. And by investigating some cosmetic counters and costume exclusive agencies, CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) gathered through questionnaires are consulted in putting forward corresponding design blue print. Solutions of display design are came into being by following the procedure of design, which is formed based on studies of display design above. Finally, the questionnaires on the effects of teaching are used to evaluate the teaching.The study involves the theories of positive research, design psychology, cognition psychology, consumer psychology and educational psychology and breakthrough at research contents, methods and conclusions are achieved though making cross fusions of multi subjects. The study provides reference for further study on commercial display design.
